Ocean Republic Brewing

What is your favorite style of beer to brew?

Fruity Kettle Sour and a Czech Pilsner. They are both challenging beers to make and any flaw in the process will shine through. You have to be on point the entire time to make a quality product.

What was the best beer you ever made by accident?

A Barrel Sour Kolsch, it took on a different yeast strain than the one initially inoculated, and was still fantastic.

What is the most memorable brewery you have ever been to?

Blue jacket in Washington, DC. It's in an old navy boiler factory. They had great beers and a beautiful facility.

What is your favorite thing about what you do?

{Laughs} OCD is a welcomed problem in beer! I enjoy that beer is both scientific and artistic at the same time.

Have you always been a brewer or was there a career before beer?

I have been a professional brewer for 13 years, and before that, I was in finance.

Why the switch?

I wanted to find something I was passionate about. Being from Denver there is a heavy beer culture, and I knew homebrewing made me happy.

Vinnie Cilurzo, Russian River Brewing

If you could get one sentiment out there about Ocean Republic Brewing and our beer, what would it be?
